This guide gets you started with a typical creation for a logical partition (LPAR) using HMC v10.<\/p>\n

The Create Logical Partition wizard on the\u00a0Hardware Management Console<\/span>\u00a0(HMC<\/span>) guides you through the procedure of creating logical partitions and partition profiles on your server.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

To create a partition, complete the following steps:<\/h4>\n
    \n
  1. In the navigation area, click\u00a0Resources<\/span><\/strong>, and then select\u00a0All Systems<\/span><\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Select (click) the server for which you want to create a partition
    \n2.1 On the left, select Partitions<\/strong>, the Partitions panel display. On the right, select System actions<\/strong> –> Create partition<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Complete the required information , and \u00a0tabs. If you want to assign all the system resources to the partition, select the\u00a0Assign all system resources check box.<\/span>
    \nIn the Basic Partition Configuration<\/strong> tab:
    \n<\/span>– Partition Name: <Define a partition name><\/em>
    \n– Partition ID: <Define as you want or leave blank (system will auto assign)>
    \n<\/em>– Partition Type: AIX\/Linux (for this case)
    \n<\/em>– Maximum Virtual Adapters: Use in case you install this LPAR under Virtual I\/O partition<\/em>

    \nIn the Processor Configuration\u00a0<\/strong>tab
    \n– Processor Mode: Dedicated<\/em> (you can select Shared<\/strong> or Dedicated<\/strong> mode)<\/em>
    \n<\/span>– Minimum: <Input minimum processor value of partition. This will affect with Shared mode><\/em>
    \n<\/strong>– Allocated: this processor value will be use as default<\/em>
    \n<\/strong>– Maximum: <Input maximum processor value of partition. This will affect with Shared mode><\/em>

    \nIn the Memory Configuration<\/strong> tab
    \n<\/span>– Switch to select MB<\/strong> or GB<\/strong> value
    \n<\/span>– Minimum: <Input minimum memory value of partition. This will affect with Shared mode><\/em>
    \n<\/strong>– Allocated: this memory value will be use as default<\/em>
    \n<\/strong>– Maximum: <Input maximum memory value of partition. This will affect with Shared mode><\/em>
    \n<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. To create multiple partitions, switch to the Multiple Partitions<\/strong> view on the top right<\/span>.<\/li>\n
  5. Click\u00a0OK<\/strong> after all setting done to create a partition<\/span>.
